Spring/Festival Season Updo

Hey guys ๐Ÿ˜Š How's everyone doing? Today's post I'm super excited about, because I looooved the
turnout. It's this EXREMELY EASY updo for spring/festival season/summertime, that literally needs one item: a headband- of your choice as well! It just needs to be able to be elastic around your whole head- that's really it though. This updo is also perfect for prom, weddings, or any other special occasions. Are you ready? Let's get started! Hope you guys like it as much as I do!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Headband with an elastic around your head

The one I got was from Walmart for guess how much? 88 cents! Yeah, I got it on sale but I love it! It's so me with the gold.

OPTIONAL:
  • Bobby pins
  • Hairspray
  • Curling iron - I didn't even curl my hair. You may want some bangs to frame your face to be curled though- totally your preference.
STEPS:
  1. Start with smooth, brushed out hair. It can be curled if you prefer, but you can leave it straight like I did just for time preservation.

    2. Put your headband in your hair- What you need to do with this part though, is not put it under your hair, like you would when wearing a normal headband. You'll put it over all of your hair.

    3. Grab a 1-1 & 1/2 inch section and twist it

4. Now here's the hardest step- which isn't even that hard. What your're going to do with this step is take that small section, and loop it around and tuck it in your headband like shown.

5. Now, if you have longer hair or extensions like I do, you'll have to repeat the last step from step 4 with the excess hair.

6. Now, all you'll do is repeat these steps all over the rest of your head! You can take larger sections, smaller sections, whatever you desire!

Aaaand here you go! The finished product! It looks like a formal curled updo that took 82942 bobby pins! If you have any hairs out of place, you may need hairspray, or a bobby pin or 2 to tame a few stray hairs, but that's really it! It's such a pretty hairstyle that's totally worth trying.

Hope you all enjoyed! Let me know of any other hairstyles you want me to try!

XOXO

February Beauty Favorites

Hi, lovelies! Today's post is going to be me giving you guys a roundup of all of my favorite beauty products I have tried that are new, or that I have rediscovered in the month of February. I watch a ton of beauty vloggers on YouTube, and these are one of my favorite videos to watch monthly, mainly because I'm nosy and like to see what everyone else uses in their daily beauty routines. I'll have a collection of hair, makeup, and skincare stuff to show you guys so hope you all enjoy!

    SKINCARE:
Photo of Aura Cacia Essential Oil, 100% Pure, Cleansing, Tea Tree, 0.5 fl oz (15 ml)    This month, I've had a constant problem with breakouts. I'm still trying to get my skin to completely calm down, but I found something that's been really helping me out in that process- tea tree oil. Using tea tree oil on breakouts has totally changed my skin, I use a q-tip and put on drop of the oil, along with a little water, and I just dab it over the breakout and literally within the next day, the breakout gets smaller, and it's typically totally shrunken by 3-4 days. The oil I got was just from Rite Aid. The brand itself is called Aura Cacia, and I was able to get it for like 7 bucks I think! For sure under 10, which for oils that's a steal!

It's become my new night- routine moisturizer, and I can't rave enough about it. It leaves my skin so smooth and hydrated, and by the morning it literally just feels so soft. I'm not looking forward to when I run out and have to pay the full price for one, but a little goes a long way, and it's definitely worth every penny.

HAIR:

You can find their products and tools at Sally Beauty Supply. I got their 1 & 1/4 inch curling iron actually as a birthday gift from my parents (thanks mom and pops,) and I didn't get into really using it a lot until the past 3-4 weeks and I love it. It doesn't leave my hair dry, and the iron came with a sample size of their argon oil which is amazing as well. I also just love the curl it gives my hair. It's just a very natural wave, that doesn't totally flatten out by the end of the day. I love it!

 MAKEUP:

I tried their new contour stick that launched at the beginning of the year, and I am soooo in love. It glides over the skin so smoothly, blends evenly, and gives your face such a natural contour for the most affordable prices! Wet n Wild can be purchased from their website, drugstores, and Ulta. Please do yourself a favor and check it out! A lot of their shades do have a warmer undertone though, and I'm very yellow- based undertone. So if you're cool toned, you may have to be careful in which shade you choose.

My next makeup favorite is from Wet n Wild as well. Their new face powders are a gift from above man. It's their photofocus pressed powder, that can be purchased at the same locations their contour stick can be purchased from. I use this to set my undereye area, and the oilier areas of my face. Such a great powder, I highly recommend this too!

My last makeup favorite is from the brand Milani Cosmetics. It's another drugstore brand that can be purchased on their website, at Meijer, Target and CVS. This is their Amore Matte Lip Creme- and the shade I have been loooving is in the shade Covet. It's a true chocolate brown shade. The formula is amazing! If you've worn liquid lipsticks before, you know how drying some can be. This one isn't at all! It wears so comfortably on the lips, and wears for a relatively long time! Again, another affordable makeup item too that I very highly stand by.

And there you have it! Some of my favorite beauty items of the month. I hope to be able to do these as often as I can, whether that's every other month, or hopefully monthly! Thank you guys for reading, and I'll see you all soon! XOXO

Rose Inspired Half-Updo

Hi, everyone! Today's post is going to be a hair tutorial on how to get this rose inspired updo. I've seen this all over social media the past few weeks to a month or so, and I looove roses so I was crazy intrigued. And when I tried it myself and realized how simple it really was, I was even more in love. This is perfect for the spring and summer months coming up- weddings, graduations, prom, or just for a casual daytime look. Hope you guys enjoy๐Ÿ˜Š

** Disclaimer: Don't mind my stubborn short layers in spots of this. I wear extensions and my natural hair isn't longer than my collar bones so sometimes my hair can get a little crazy in the middle of hairstyles **

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Brush
  • Comb
  • 2 Rubber Bands
  • A few bobby pins
  • Hairspray
STEPS:

  • Brush your hair out. Make sure there are no kinks, knots, etc. The tip to any pretty braided hairstyle is smooth hair. It can be curly, straight, wavy, etc., but it needs to be smooth regardless.

  • Take parts of hair on both sides of your head and put them in a hair up ponytail with your elastic in the middle of your head. Brush out your hair again after this step if need be.

  • Take the hair in the ponytail, lift it up, and loop it through the part of your hair that's tied up, right on top of the elastic. It gives a really pretty, twisted effect.

  • Pull the hair up and in front of your face (if you can braid behind your head, skip this step, and an extra gold star for you. I can, but my arms get way too tired) anyway, with the hair in the ponytail in front of your face, go ahead and start braiding. Just a regular braid is what we're looking for today. Keep the braid fairly loose. I made the mistake initially of braiding too tight, and it didn't look as rose-like in the end, even after I pulled apart the braid. Tie the end with an elastic when complete.

  • Now this is my favorite part with braids- pulling them apart. It just gives the braid so much more life, and makes it more pretty. What you do is hold the main part of your braid with one hand, hold a section of one side of the braid with the other, and use that other hand to pull slightly at your braid. be careful in this step though, and take your time, because you can easily make the braid fall apart. Do this throughout your whole braid.

  • Now that you have the braid all ready, start at the bottom of your braid, and make a circular shape with the braid all the way up to the top of where your braid begins. secure this with a bobby pin. I, surprisingly, only needed one, but you may need more depending on your hair type.

  • Now check in the mirror, and see if the rose bun is secured enough, looks the way you want, etc. When it's up to your liking, secured enough, and ready to go, feel free to spray any parts of your hair for extra hold throughout your day.

ALL DONE! Not too hard right? I did have to try this style on my own a few times before I got the style I wanted, so don't get discouraged. I hope you guys enjoy this rose bun this spring and summer :) Have a great weekend, and let me know what you guys want to see next!
